Well trained, confident and caring staff are the cornerstone of Welcome Independent Living’s vision and values. We pride ourselves on the comprehensive training provided to all our carers and managers.
All new staff receive a comprehensive four-day induction package focusing on a detailed understanding of our model of care. This is delivered in our dedicated training facility before a staff member commences work within the service.
Following commencement of employment, each staff member receives three months of dedicated in-house and in the community, role-specific training assisting them to confidently complete their probationary period. Our carers then have the opportunity to enrol onto advanced courses which offers a range of NVQ programmes in collaboration with independent colleges and providers, to equip our staff for their roles and helping them in their careers and personal development.
All staff at Welcome Independent Living are trained by our team of qualified and experienced trainers Janice Barford (RGN) and Warren Parratt.
We support the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of all our staff and want all our staff at every level to be well equipped for their roles.
Our bespoke training facility is based at Elphin House, 1 New Road, Mytholmroyd, Halifax, HX7 5DZ.
We can also provide training contracts and one-off courses to other care companies across West Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Courses on offer include manual handling, safeguarding, medication awareness, MCA 2005. In addition, we can provide a four-day training course in induction standards (The Care Certificate), which covers subjects including first aid, health and safety, infection control, communications, client confidentiality, palliative care, and food hygiene.
